A leading cause behind the poor pet health is obesity which can be easily be avoided by taking a few simple considerations. The childhood obesity is a widespread disease in this country, but unfortunately our pet is in the league as well. A study has found that over the 60% percent of the pets are encountering obesity or overweight.
An estimated study has shown that approximately $350 a year have been spent on the Dog Treats by the owner while the cat owners spent a little less for about $200. So put some concerns about your pet overweight issues and do not let your pet be the part of another statistic. Obesity is the main health concerns for the veterinarians and similarly the excessive weight causes the dangerous health concerns as it does in humans. Here our veterinary experts share the same concerns, guide for the pet owners to prevent the pet obesity.
Additional Health Concerns – The overweight animals often encounter the shorter life span and the health threats usually increase as well. The heart disease, diabetes, lung disease and joint pains are the common health issues for the overweight pets along with shorter life expectancy. The pet must follow a regular exercise regime and follow a regular feeding chart according to its specific needs. Larger breed dogs like German shepherd requires a different dog treats and nutritional requirements in its diet.
Identification of Pet Obesity – The pet must have the regular checkups with the veterinarian. There are a few simple tests to determine whether your pet is having an obesity issue or not.
The pet’s ribs must be seen without the pressing it and the waist must be notified as well. The waist must make a thin line between the back of the ribs and the hips if you view your dog from above. If you are looking from the side, then your pet’s belly should go up from the bottom of the rib cage to inside the thighs.
If your pet fails these tests, then he is likely to be overweight.
You need to be honest and objective about the pet’s weight, this is not something to overlook. Only 17% of the dog’s owners agree to their pet obesity issues where think being fat is adorable.
Prevention of Pet Obesity in Three Steps – many of the pet owners take it seriously their pet is overweight or obese, but loving your pet doesn’t not mean you can over feed him. A little extra amount in treats can cause 100 calorie consumption. You can instead go for the Dog Accessories Australia, which is a relative effective way to show your affection towards your dog.
The portion control must take place in the dog’s diet. When you are going through the instructions on the Dog Teats, follow the instructions suitable for its ideal weight not for its current weight.
If you find your dog is overweight, then do not delay to talk to your vet to rule some underlying health issues that might cause a problem. But if your pet is healthy then you can switch to the alternation in its diet, by reducing the larger calorie food from its diet.
Increasing the activity is the best way to reduce the weight, take your dog with the longer walks and run. A brisk pace twice a day will definitely help you to burn an extra fat from the body.

My dog saved me from a fall one night, and every night afterwards
Posted By by GoSailing
My house, when I was little, was always a bit of a zoo. Our five dogs and two cats got along well, and were all very well trained, as my mom was/is a dog trainer. We had only Golden Retrievers and Border Collies, two of the smartest breeds, and specifically looked for some of the smartest ones. One of my dogs, a golden retriever by the name of Chaucer, always slept on my brother's bed, which was the lower bunk. I always tossed and turned a lot when I was sleeping, and one night I actually rolled out of bed. Chaucer managed to get off my brother's bed and break my fall (admittedly it wouldn't have been that big a deal if he didn't as long as I didn't land on my head or something). We were both completely uninjured after this, which I am thankful for.
The truly amazing thing, though, was that when I got in bed the next night, he jumped from the floor to the desk to the dresser to the bed, and then laid down along the edge of the bed so that I could no longer even get close to the edge if I tried. He made a wall or barrier for me so that I'd not fall off again. He kept doing this for a week, without encouragement, at which point I switched beds with my brother so that he wouldn't feel compelled to jump up onto the top bed. He never ever stopped being a barrier between me and a tumble, though.
